Catherine Tàmmaro is a Toronto-based artist whose work explores memory, Ancestral continuity, land, language and Indigenous presence across the Great Lakes region with a particular focus on documented connections between extended family and the historic Anderdon Reserve and Wyandot(t-te)/Wendat communities in Canada and the United States.

Through archival research, oral histories, community relationships, membership and genealogical affirmation, her practise engages Wyandot(t-te) cultural histories and intergenerational knowledge.

Working across disciplines, Tammaro bridges contemporary art, historical recovery and cultural remembrance often bringing attention to overlooked narratives of Indigenous endurance, resistance, kinship, Motherwork and identity.

Tammaro’s work explores the concept of the “Ancestral Present” reconnecting spiritual and creative energies with the Homeland while supporting fellow artists and continuing her own lifelong process of teaching, learning and creative exploration.
